How accurate is an AI food scanner?

An AI food scanner recognizes visible foods and estimates portions from an image or description. It is useful for creating a fast draft. Accuracy depends on the food, image, model, database, and how carefully the user reviews the result.

What a photo can do well

Separated, familiar foods in clear light are easier to identify. A plate with rice, grilled vegetables, and a distinct protein gives the scanner more visual information than a blended soup or covered casserole. A description can add details the photo misses.
